Beyoncé’s rep has had just about enough of the negative commentary surrounding the singer’s pregnancy. And for the first time in a while, she’s speaking out on behalf of Mrs. Carter to tell folks to shut the hell up.
Expecting twins, Beyoncé has confidently stepped out for a number of events and outings and has shared numerous photos throughout the span of her pregnancy. And as expected, things are getting bigger, including her lips. Just recently she shared an image of herself wearing a shirt that said “Preggers” and that showed her lips, as opposed to her entire face.
Despite the obvious conclusion being that the 35-year-old is dealing with fluid retention shifts that often occur during the second and third trimester, website MediaTakeout ran a story claiming that the singer had obtained injections in her lips. Beyoncé’s longtime rep, Yvette Noel-Schure, fired back with the statement of all statements given to site Gossip Cop:
“MTO staffers,” she writes, “What do you know about the effects of pregnancy on a woman’s entire body? Please tell me. Did you know that in addition to weight gain there is often a dramatic change in the blood flow in the system and increased fluid causing swelling? Do you know that often women’s gums get swollen? Do you know that it sometimes affects our speech, our ability to chew intently and a host of other things? But the sacrifice to our faces, our feet and our entire bodies is something we welcome because we bring beautiful humans into the world who will one day combat your hate and negativity.”
Noel-Schure continued, also calling out claims made by the site, and many other people, about the singer’s first pregnancy with Blue Ivy. As we told you yesterday, Beyoncé was accused of not actually carrying Blue, who is now 5.
“I stood silent during Beyonce’s first pregnancy when you thought it was okay to bully her like the cowards you are, when you accused her of never being pregnant, but I simply cannot this time,” she said. “You are the saddest individuals and picking on a pregnant lady is tantamount to possessing the coldest, despicable heart. You need to find something else to do with your time and maybe stop by a store that has happiness on sale because you need to buy some.”
Despite dealing with all sorts of commentary the first time around, it’s clear that with the singer’s second pregnancy, those around her aren’t going to allow people to say anything they want. And for the record, medical experts state that swelling occurs most often in the legs, feet, ankles and hands, but it can also occur in the face. Hence the reason so many women of color experience swelling of their noses, as well as gums, and in Bey’s case, her lips.
